#20 IBM's new Cloud Paks Cloud-native & optimised for RedHat OpenShift
IBM recently announced that it has transformed its software portfolio to be cloud-native and has optimised it to run on Red Hat OpenShift. This is the first main product announcement since the Red Hat acquisition. Customers are now able to build mission critical applications once and run them within all leading public clouds, including AWS, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud Platform, Alibaba and IBM Cloud as well as within private clouds.
The new cloud native capabilities will be delivered as pre-integrated solutions called IBM Cloud Paks. This new IBM software will provide a common operating model and a common set of services (identity management, security, monitoring and logging) and is designed to improve visibility and control across clouds together with a unified and intuitive dashboard.
The main objective for Cloud Paks is to support mission critical applications anywhere and to help customers to rapidly integrate these applications within any cloud. Cloud Paks will be delivered as packages, are portable, based on a consumption based pricing model and contain over 100 products from across IBM’s extensive software portfolio.
The current five IBM Cloud Paks are:
- Cloud Pak for Data
- Cloud Pak for Applications
- Cloud Pak for Integration
- Cloud Pak for Automation
- Cloud Pak for Multicloud Management
