#53: Customer behaviour has changed – check your License Position
Our day-to-day lives have severely changed in the past half year. Workplaces have become more remote than we have ever experienced. Working from outside the office results in a higher usage of the remote desktop licenses, which is a fairly straightforward result you have undoubtedly noticed. However, when your business is operating in the business-to-consumer market, there may be an additional effect as well.
Effects of changing behaviour
Working remotely, as well as (limited) access to the traditional ‘brick-and-mortar’ shops, has resulted in a higher turnover for web shops and higher traffic for online services such as banking, insurance and entertainment.
In Q2 of 2020, online sales have increased the turnover of certain industries up to 54,8% according to recent studies¹. This increase results in more traffic on websites, a higher number of orders and, as a result, more pressure on different channels of distribution.
Examples of cost drivers
Examples of software that enable this growth are not just related to, for example, the marketing licenses for the website. It also includes software that enables processes less visible for the customer, such as IBM for the engines running the increased amount of transactions, or SAP software with a license metric specifically tailored for your specific industry.
